"After weathering a three-month, $750,000 reconstruction of state Route 48, many West Milton downtown merchants worked together to make the village a destination for specialty shopping and casual dining. Underground utilities, including water, sewer and storm sewer, were replaced and new sidewalks and decorative street lighting were added. Residential development continues at a steady pace. Section one of the Stillwater Bend subdivision was approved, and the development consists of 16.15 acres located at the intersection of state Route 48 and Calumet Road. With 24 building lots, this is the first major residential development approved for the village in more than six years. The Milton-Union Local school district received an "Excellent" rating from the state of Ohio for the first time. "
